dont forget about me.
“Nothing is so painful to the human mind as a great and sudden change.” ― Mary Shelley, Frankenstein

You left me. I knew you would
Eventually of course,
you couldn’t stay for ever
and put your life on pause.

My care wasn’t your problem,
And it’s painful growing old,
But you have a family, and a dog
A husband now, I’ve been told.

I wish I could’ve come,
But I understand why
You didn’t invite such an old
Boring old guy.

Since your mother died
I’ve felt quite alone
But that’s not your fault
You’ve been worked to the bone.

3 kids, hey
That must be hard work
Id love to meet them, maybe
The loneliness can sometimes hurt.

I never knew how cold
An empty house could be
It was always your mother
You, your brother, and me.
I watched your first steps,
When you ran your first race
But you tripped, balancing the egg
And landed straight on your face

So I took you for ice-cream
Return the smile to those cheeks
Now the old house is damp
And the floorboards all creak.

They miss the sound too,
The company of padded toes,
The sound is rather haunting,
The way it shrieks and moans.

But come see me soon,
I miss that precious smile
And the walls get rather cold
When you’ve been sat here for a while.
