Aiming for a goal
Reaching ---

Reach for the stars, we're told.
Good advice for us every day.
So I reached for the brightest one,
But the moon was in my way.

I thought I'd reset my goals,
And choose a different ray,
But down I came once more.
Sadly, the moon was in my way.

I aimed for the star to the north,
Wishing to continue to play.
But wouldn't you know it,
Again, the moon was in my way.

I thought of the big dipper,
Then quickly saw reason for delay.
I feared maybe I'd land in the bowl,
If the moon wasn't in my way.

But what of Orion with sword and shield,
And no serious need for play?
With prayer in my heart, I reached again.
Ahh!! Finally, no moon in my way.
