Writer's Cramp entry 18NOV20 Shakespearian Sonnet

An echo of music resonated in the dark.
The chill of the midnight air cavorted on my cheek,
The taillights ahead of us attracted my pale bark,
Back then I was masterful but, now humbled I speak.

Enjoying our musical mystique and drinking brew,
The party left behind to explore a mountain trail,
A carload of young men singing "I'm in love with you."
It's clear to me now we should've all been thrown in jail.

The moonbeams lit up as rock and roll rang in my head,
I sped down the road as my delusioned friends smoked weed,
Hour after hour I followed twin taillights twinkling red,
Until I could see the stupidity of my deed.

The sun had ascended and the euphony was gone,
Another expensive clue I realized at dawn.
