A look into the reality of depression.
deep within her thoughts, the pain has overgrown
they say she's never enough, the seeds of doubt they've sewn

a broken soul shattered like a mirror made of glass
the lies within her mind grow stronger as the days pass

she's fighting with everything she has left inside
but there's nowhere she can run, nowhere she can hide

the urge to escape scratches at the doors within her head
telling her repeatedly that she'd be better off dead

overwhelmed, she cries, "please make them stop"
they've taken away her happiness, every last drop

the voices scream as her hand grasps the blade
digging it into her flesh, all senses beginning to fade

scarlet tears fall from her arm
those silent voices can no longer do harm

as the lights fade to black and her mind begins to slow
she begins to wonder if she'd have ever known

what true peace is
