My grandson's first Christmas being aware of what's going on. He was a Dec baby last year

A child, new, just a year
Aware since last time.
So tiny then, sleeping
Through the Church bell's chime.

Eyes wide, now, where to look
Things to open, surprise!
Last Noel, more feeding
Than gifts, bows, and ties.

How quick, then, a baby
Becomes the bright child.
From helpless to curious
Was placid, now wild.

The joy, when, he sees it
His first shining tree.
Eyes much more focused
This is Christmas for me.
