The feeling of hope after a time of torment by an illness.Contest entry.

Breathless,
I stood outside my home breathless.
I had survived the torment of solitude for weeks.
My mind was weary of the madness I saw on TV,
during this quarantine.
My vision of filling the empty space in my life
would set me free.
The fresh air, my first neighborhood walk,
and the perfume of flowers that lingered has given me hope.
The illness that controlled me will do so no more.
