What is friendship?
Is it a short story
that last only a few months or years?

Is friendship a free verse poem
honoring award winning moments
that produce tears of joy?

Is it a cure
for the stiffness and pain
of a writing cramp?

What is friendship?
It is helping a person
celebrate their 19th birthday
even when they are 74.
