A description of a man who suffers from Bipolar disorder.

The Flame

This man I know contains a light
It shines out through his eyes
And when he speaks the laughter flows
Be it truth or mostly lies

Then like a switch he changes tune
And anger starts to rise
The light that’s there within the man
Just flickers then it dies

In its place, an ember flared
And as the flame grew high
The man began to scream out loud
And wished that he would die

Then as flames do, it dwindled down
Dark eyes began to shine
The ember cooled and a light shone through
Leaving anger far behind

This cycle that the man goes through
Repeats itself and more
Emotions running wild within
Makes him feel like he’s at war
