Is it Wise to Understand

But my true question is this? Is it wise? Do we truly gain anything by our piecemeal attempts at understanding or are we simply the moth and the flame? Circling, and attempting to understand something so far beyond us that we have no true hope of doing so. Are we reaching ever closer to some indelible truth that with bring all me up to ruin? Is it perhaps better to live in ignorance than to try and understand that which may one day destroy us?
