Popping in and out of decadence - a just cause for sure - a free verse poem.
A pleasure so juicy
With a mostly saintly jewel;
A caramel wrapped
In decadent candied chocolate
Smothered
In sinful pride;
Less the smudgy wrapper,
A treat dissolves
With each mesmerizing chew -
The lovely jaws pushing through
The cream-filled succulence
So rare...

Principles describe the caloric abuse
Of this gifted intake,
A talented ecstasy taking hold -
The tail driving the revving flight
Toward portliness.
An obscure diaphragm
Now portrays exercise
As a glowing benefit
To both the waistline
And health in a requisite,
Patterned, reliable shift.

Lovely twists and turns
Now relate to imperfect ovals -
As roundness flirts
With the structured flaunting
Of dubious peril.

The vultures continue
To nip at the bodies
Of pompous demons
Who reject the code
Of spectral cognizance;

Too appropriately shy
In scathing demeanor -

Whose ethical lives
End freakishly
And way too early...
