Time passes after a loss
I’ve still got the blues for you
And if you were resurrected today
I’d roll back the years to return to you
Though yesterday on yesterday
Has given my memories a touch of the historical
And I’m not the same.

I’d like to think we’d be proud of each other
For loving each other in the way we did
For small daily favors to drain out angry hours
For holidays and birthday cake, for plays

You always wanted to give me flowers
Back when I did plays
And I always changed the bandages on your legs
You worried I would fail to ever thrive
And I worried you would fall.

It will be all right, all in all
I’ll imagine you immortal in the past
And I’ll grow old but I do
Still have the blues for you.
