“Have you read this book?” came a voice beside me at the yard sale.

I looked over. I think my mouth actually drooped open he was so adorable. Attempting to salvage my dignity I said, “Ah...I don’t think I have... Have you?”

He answered, “No, I was looking for something for my mother. I thought I’d surprise her with an old book.”

“Oh...” my brain was screaming at itself to add more words but it couldn’t seem to come up with any. Finally, “Does she like mysteries? There are some Agatha Christie mysteries here.”

“I think she does!” he turned and smiled. I think I melted into my shoes. “My name’s Jeremy, We just moved here last week. Do you go to Peadmont? I’ll be starting in August.”

OMG, he was new in town, he would be going to my school!

“Yes, I go to Peadmont,” I managed to say, without drooling.

“Apparently I’ll be in Mr. Randel’s homeroom. Do you know him?”

Mr. Randel had an eleventh grade home room. I was going into twelfth grade...

“Oh,” I said, crestfallen, “yes, he’s nice. I had him last year.”

“Oh, so you’re a senior?”

“Yes,” I said, as my heart split into pieces.

“Then you’ll be in with my brother Frank! There he is now.”

I looked over at the, handsomest, guy I had ever seen in my life! The next thing I knew, I was waking up to a paramedic making me smell this yukky tube! “She’s coming around,” he said.

Feeling like a total fool, I looked up into your father’s eyes for the first time ever. He wasn’t the most adorable guy, I’d ever seen, or the handsomest. And when I looked into his eyes, I didn’t feel giddy, or even tongue tied, I just felt home.
