making a mountain out of a pile of rocks.
Driskill Mountain
Rated as barely a hill
In my book of wanders.
Slowly I meandered
Along barely remembered roads
And hot teaming highways.
Keeping south I always wandered.
I was in bayou mode.

Louisiana is more than New Orleans.
Louisiana captures my mind,
As I wander her beauty,
Making mountains
Out of hills.

Mount Driskill,
Out in Bienville Parish
Used to be two feet shorter,
No more than a bump,
The world barely noticed,
And then we
Included in the measure
New stones stacked in a cairn.

Louisiana is more than New Orleans.
Louisiana captures my mind,
Even when I make a hill
A mountain in my mind.
