my wife has been diagnosed with PSP, a terminal neurodegenerative disease, .
We should have talked it over
she thought as her head hung down
Her hands trembled
and she no longer walked alone
She watched me with those
bright blue eyes
almost as if to say
I should be taking care of you
not the other way
Swallowing was difficult
food just
would not go down
Her legs grew heavy
Her neck grew stiff
she cannot take much
more of this
her thoughts confused
her ego bruised
My eyes tear up
as I watch
her struggle
It is like she is in
her own little bubble
She tells me
You didn't ask for this
I say
Neither did you
We did talk about this, the day we said "I do."
