To the world of air

How did I swim so deep?
It is so dark down here
I thought I was asleep
Yet woke to a greater fear

Drowning in the dark
I searched for the light
My mind filled with sharks
Swimming in the night

Reaching for the sun
For wind on waves
I wanted to have some fun
Not remain in ocean graves

Currents pull me too and fro
This cannot be my life
So I kick from deep below
Cut the waters like a knife

The surface breaks as my hand
Finds the world of air
Now begins the search for land
With a grateful prayer
