I made a wrong turn back somewhere
I saw a sign along the road,
it said, THE END IS NEAR.
Since I had no clue where I was,
it could be anywhere.

Another road sign caught my eye.
It said, THE TIME IS NOW.
But time for what? is what I thought,
and who cares, anyhow?

I didn’t know what those signs meant
or what was going on.
Yeah, all I knew was I was lost,
my GPS was gone.

The battery had died on me
and left me in the lurch.
I’d stop and say a prayer for help
if I could find a church.

‘Cause these signs had me nervous now.
What if the end was near?
The end of what? I didn’t know.
The answer wasn’t clear.

As I continued down that road,
I kept my fingers crossed.
Maybe I’d see another sign,
and I would not be lost.

The next sign made it clear to me.
It said, YOU HAVE ARRIVED!
I felt like I’d been near to harm,
and yet somehow survived.

And there it was in front of me,
the destination clear.
There were some houses going up
out here with nothing near.

THE RAINBOW’S END said one big sign.
One glance was all you’d need
to know that you were truly lost.
I’d reached THE END indeed.

The signs were just promotional
for some development.
I sat there as I looked around
and let my anger vent.

I made a wrong turn back somewhere.
I’d gotten lost somehow.
Now I was stuck here at THE END.
At least THE TIME IS NOW.
