|‘Tis the time of year|
when thoughts of love inspire.
Not only callow youth
But poets and singers too.
Yet not even Spring
The sap it rises. Excitement trembles
Deep within, as winter breathes
A last farewell.
Brave spring bulbs send up green shoots
Testing the air
Despite the winter chill.
Determination, showing contempt
For that which would defeat.
Out of the darkness
Into the light
Breathing in the rain soaked earth
Buds unfurl showing bright colours
And the promise of more.
