We'd see them every day.
The cows have disappeared, it seems.
But where did they all go?
Since no one’s seen a trace of them,
I guess we’ll never know.

They lived in that big pasture there.
We’d see them every day.
Then suddenly the field was bare;
they’ve upped and moved away.

But where could they have gone to live?
Moved to another state?
Someplace where it is warm and dry.
Hey, wouldn’t that be great?

They wouldn’t have to be so cold
when winter comes around.
And wouldn’t it be nice to live
without snow on the ground?

I hope that they will contact me
when they get settled there.
A postcard of a grassy field
that says, “Wish you were here.”
