Mother Nature

Mother Nature is watching us
she feels and sees and hears.
The plants and creatures of her domain
are her eyes and ears.
Her heart beats steadily to the rhythm
of the never-ending tides
her breath, we hear upon the winds
as they blow from every side.
She watches us from up above
from the eyes of birds in the sky
and she guides us in the lives we lead
as we stumble and fumble by.
She feels us tread upon her skin
and tear her body asunder.
She cries at the travesty that we cause
in our quest for earthly plunder.
She hears us with the ears of the wild
alert and quite discerning
as she adapts to this world that we have made
for she is always learning.
