Don't Do It, Sam Adams, for Writers's Cramp
18 lines

Don’t Do It, Sam Adams
Maria Lee told him
As he sat in the Cosmos Bar
Drinking up a storm .

Don’t drink anymore
You have had enough
Don’t you think, dear?

Sam Adams hesitated for a moment
Then smiled and said,

“Nonsense, I’ve only just begun.”

And drank another beer.”

While his favor song
“One bourbon, my scotch and one beer”
Blared over the loudspeakers,
And the bar denizens

Began the countdown
To the 2 am last call
For alcohol.

Maria smiled,
And joined Sam Adams
The love of her life
In his nightly drinking drama.
