Winner of Writer's Cramp contest 220703
With a crown of turquoise sky,
And a fiery solar ring,
A Fourth of July barbeque,
Greets everyone like a King.

On the grill, tributes grand,
Offers a sterling royal feast.
Golden coins of coconut shrimp,
With an orange sauce, a beast.

In the incense of charcoal smoke,
And a salamander broiler char,
T-bone steaks sing a sizzling song,
Like a lone heavy metal sitar.

Then fit for a prince or princess,
Comes a stately key lime pie,
No finer finish of outdoor fare
Could so tastefully tongue tie.

With folding chairs as our thrones,
We wait for evening stars so shy,
Then launch a regal finale bright,
Fireworks beautify the sky.

As the ashen embers die down low,
A sated moon declares it's late,
We thank the nobles gone before,
For our freedom to celebrate.
