Speaks for itself
His mind was on his country
as he stood up to go
where this day would take him
he didn't even know.
-
He just knew that somewhere
many miles away
there was a country waiting
who promised they would pray.
-
That he would come home safely
from this foreign shore
that they had sent him to
when our country went to war.
-
With courage he went forward
when he heard the battle call
but the battle was so brutal
that no one saw him fall.
-
He paid the price for freedom
with face down in the sand
there upon the beaches
of a so foreign.land..
-
His mind was on his country
and he served his country well
for the price of freedom
another soldier fell.
-
Because of those like him
you and are free today
but for a country to be free
means someone has to pay.
