I sleep safely at night. A Kyrielle poem, 8 syllables/line, Quatrain format
Away With My Daytime Demons

Grant me Lord, restful, peaceful sleep
Dreams soothe the soul, relief so deep
In darkness there is no reason
Away with my daytime demons

What’s that I hear? A scraping sound?
A chain? A rope? I'll not be bound
But still that sound, beckons, deepens
Away with my daytime demons

Now it’s gone, when will it return
Does not matter, for it will burn
In this room, I’m in my Eden
Away with my daytime demons

My room is secure, all is right
I trust my soul is safe at night
I am strong, I will not weaken
Away with my daytime demons
