the Ice Cream Truck Dealer

The Ice Cream Truck Drug Dealer

Jingle Jingle Jingle.
Rang the bell of the ice cream truck.
Sam Adams is ten years old,

Ran out to the ice cream truck.
In the summer of 1969
In the South Bronx, in NYC
On a hot summer day.

The truck driver was a black man,
Dressed in full reggae dreadlocks,
And a one love black and red reggae tea shirt,
And he was playing bad-assed reggae songs.

He said to Sam and the other kids
Hey, kids besides ice cream,
I have weed for you,
If you want.

As you know,
The first taste is free,
Then it will cost you
Ten dollars per baggie.

And I have other drugs,
Things that make you high.
Things that make you sad.
Things that make you go sideways.

Sam had heard about weed and drugs,
In his mandated DARE anti-drug classes.
And like all his classmates
Was tempted to try the evil weed.

The reggae love man
explained how to smoke it.
And how to hide it,
From their parents.

He said that it was their secret.
And he would be back again
With more ice cream.
And weed.

Jingle-jingle! You (i.e. main/POV character) hear the bells from the passing ice cream truck. You run out to get your favorite treat ... and something very strange and unexpected happens.
