A poem about being retired
A retired life

As a younger woman I thought senior citizenship was a bore
Now that I'm retired
and a senior citizen
I feel more than bored.

I feel apprehensive
and afraid of the future

I have my elderly Dad
and my four pets
two dogs and two cats
to keep me alive

All my appointments are with
doctors
They're concerned about me they say

I've lost weight
and eat meagerly.
I'm not having a death wish
It's just that I haven't much of an appetite

I'll continue the search for the meaning of my life
Never fear
For God is beside me
