What if there is one more time with a person you love. One more hello. One more I'm sorry.
Your words echo through my being tonight,
We were bare and shared our hearts of old.
A conversation that started out light,
Ended with each of us being bold.

I bared my love that was also my shame,
Never before could I say the words I wanted to shout.
You opened your soul and heart and gave my heart your name,
The sadness that it took 13 years to figure out.

You spoke of always wanting to be near me,
I wouldn't reach my hand to yours and I sat alone.
I wouldn't allow myself to look and see,
All that love and joy that your eyes said I'm home.

I was lost and would turn away from your light,
Fumbling in the dark thinking myself strong.
I don't blame you for giving up the fight,
What I did and didn't do is beyond wrong.

This scar on my heart and soul will stay in eternity,
To remind me to never let go of what there.
Love and strength given to me freely,
Now I look out the window and whisper where.

Where do I turn when the light is gone,
Where do I place this love that won't quiet itself.
Where did I hide my heart when the light was on,
Where is the key to the box on that shelf?

One more chance to put my hand in yours,
One more time to look into the sea of your eyes,
Once more before we finally lock the doors,
One more time to part with the final goodbye.
