Having my childhood stripped away from me, I had no choice but to face life and this world
I was seven years old when my world crumbled beneath my feet,
leaving me just an empty shell of the girl I used to be.

My life was surrounded by a darkness
I couldn't escape,
being tormented by the pain, bound by chains I couldn't break.

All alone in a world, and with no voice to speak my truth,
I was fighting a battle the devil was hoping I'd lose.

I was barely hanging on to a future I couldn't see,
until my Lord and Savior, reached down His hand, and rescued me.

Still many years I struggled with the past, always looking back,
memories haunting my sleep, like poison seeping through the cracks.

I just couldn't forget, forgive, nor could I ever let go,
but holding on allowed bitterness to turn my heart ice cold.

I hated my life, and more than once I took it for granted,
because too many times I've been abused and left abandoned.

I felt invisible, and like I never really mattered,
like a piece of glass as clear as day, only I was shattered.

I was broken indeed into a tiny million pieces,
I was scattered among the thorns, lost deep within it's trenches.

But somewhere within the wreckage I heard him calling my name,
whispering in my ear, child you'll never be the same.

It was my weakest moment when I finally saw the light,
no longer was I alone to bear the burden of this fight.

The weights had been lifted, no more did Satan have his control,
I had been set free at last, by the renewing of my soul.

It's because of Jesus, and how He brought me out of darkness,
that I can live this life without fear, but instead with gladness.

Tomorrow is never promised, deaths knocking on every door,
so with each day I am given I promise to love Him more.

And I am striving to be better than I was yesterday,
always praying as I go, and asking God to lead the way.

Although I'm far from perfect, and I don't always get it right,
I will put my trust in Jesus, He's my beacon thru the night.

So now when the days grow weary, and the sun begins to set,
and when my time on earth is shortened, no I won't soon forget.

How He gave His life a ransom for us all, and set us free,
how He shed His precious blood, upon that cross on Calvary.

And how even though I fail Him, He still loves me just the same,
and I know without a doubt I can just call upon His name.

In the midst of the storm, through every trial and every care,
on every mountain top, in the valley, God is always there.

He's says I am the way, the truth, the life, I believe it's so,
as long as I follow after Him, wherever I may go.

My Jesus will be there waiting, ready to carry me home...
