The autumn season is on the way
A gentle, creeping chill beckons
In the morning’s frosty dawn
And the early evening’s breeze

The changing leaves and reaching branches
Rustle as the breeze passes through the boughs
Under the steel clouded sky

The days grow shorter, and the nights grow longer
As the seasonal change continues
Signaling autumn's gentle approach

There are baskets of freshly picked apples
For homemade apple pie and cider
Caramel apples and baked apples

Piles of pumpkins both big and small
Due to arrive at any time
For baking, carving, and painting

With the sweet fall rain and crisp air
Soft sweaters and fuzzy fleece blankets
Bring comfort and warmth as autumn approaches
