A poem of sad refrain....
I cry each time I hear the news
Of soldier men and women, too
Who perish in the midst of war
Away from home, alone and sad.

I sob each tears for precious life
That's lost in battle fields of fire
While sorrows fill my heart with pain
For souls who grieve without regret.

Each drop of tear becomes a name
Each mournful cry, a loved one's gone
With woeful wail the heavens weep
In mournful, tragic agony.

I see the shame that scar the earth
With every bullet, rocket, bomb
That wounds and kills and slays a soul
That mutilates the human heart.

I feel a sorrow deep within
Of agonies, of broken dreams
Of souls debased, of lives a-washed
Of sadness laid upon each soul.

I pain each time a soul departs
My tear o'erflow over the land
I hurt for shame within my heart
For wasted lives within the graves.

I feel the woes of heartlessness
Disdain reaps through my every bone
When battlegrounds become a shame
With human souls abandoned, all.

I stand alone among the crowds
A-filled with tears of noble thoughts
That young minds sacrificed abroad
Their lives, for freedom's bright delight.

There are heroes underground
Where my feet fall in quiet trods
The dusty stones that stand about
Are monuments of souls begone.

My sorrow's deep within my soul
My wounded heart's a-filled with woe
For deep within these walls of grief
Are lovely souls who perished all.

In their young days they dreamed of life
Of growing up, of living tall
With grace acquired, with noble thoughts
They sacrificed their youthful lives.

Their dreams were filled with joys unknown
Believed they shared of honor's gift
Stood well within their hearts of gold
Were words of wisdom, love and joy.

I tear once more for sad goodbyes
That cling to me like horror's breath
That youthful heroes spelled of life
That shone with beauty o'er their graves.
