Just a little ditty.

As I stood before the mirror
Looking back to yesterday
The golden, brownish hair
Was replaced with silver grey

The blue eyes that were clear once
Now sadly show my life
Baby, toddler, teen
Woman, mother, wife

The wrinkles I cannot smooth
They age more with each year
They stare back at me
Among my doubting fears

The mirror tells no lies
The picture is true to me
It shows an older version
Of the youngster I should be

Is she who I am?
Or who I once was?
Can it truly matter?
What she really was

Before the mirror now
I wonder when she departed
That lovely little girl
From where my whole life started

Mirror, mirror thanks to you
Once again, I saw my dream
But reflections as you know
Are not always what they seem
