A Fall night is wonderful
Lingering crickets lurk on the ground
trying to chirp their best
quiet darkness gently falls
under swaying, tall trees
a squirrel hops with zest
smoky smells fill the air
Fall has long kissed Summer goodbye
but a bit of warmth still lingers
mixed with the chilly wind
while the moon glows up high
over the treetops becoming so bare
as crispy leaves drop while branches sway
the stars twinkle brightly
and the owl hoots proudly
until night turns into day.
