A Halloween story
Sabrina Wood an estate manager was given the task to redesign an old abandoned mansion located in a remote village which was over 12 hours drive of dirt rough road.
The project was estimated to last a total of a year and six months, so she had to take her children Ella and Adrian with her even when they didn’t like the idea of going to a new school or a new environment but they had no choice
They packed their bags into the back of the car as mom drove for hours; it’s been 3 years since Sabrina and her husband Alexander Wood separated… he couldn’t keep up with her constant traveling and changing location.
Hours felt like forever on this rough dirt road but at last they arrive late that evening at the old mansion tired from the hours of travel
A low light could be seen shining through the front window of the attic
Sabrina unlocks the front door with the key which had been given to her by the agency but it couldn’t open the door pressing down on the handle she struggles a bit with the door as Ella and Adrian watched her struggle with the door
Ella walked up to the door slightly pressing down on the handle it opened softly as though it was a brand new door; Sabrina must have been stressed driving for hours, so she went upstairs and up to the attic only to find it dark. The old light bulb was cold , dusty and the whole house was out of power. she comes back downstairs to the children
Ella was 17 years old and Adrian was just 15

Sabrina: “well I can’t really tell the condition of the rooms right now, but from the document we have four rooms upstairs and an extra space that can double as a seating room then down here we have three rooms a sitting room, kitchen, a study room and a mini bar and a basement”

Adrian: “it’s a pretty big house”

Sabrina: “yes dear, with a pretty large basement”

Ella: “I think I like it”

Adrian: “me too… but it’s a little spooky and cold”

Sabrina: “and that’s why momma is here to fix that… so for tonight we’ll go to bed then by tomorrow morning we will sort out the rooms”

Those words she said and kissed them good night.
It was midnight when Adrian woke up to what seemed like a humanoid shadow passed by his window, he gets up looks out the window and sees a figure sitting on the old rusty swing.
Slowly he walks downstairs to the front door and out to the front porch only to see a black cat with it’s bright glowing eyes sitting next to the empty old swing at the far left side of the building then he turned to the right to see a human figure disappearing into the woods but by the time he turned back to the swing the cat had also disappeared without a trace.

Adrian: “Hello” he called out into the woods “I’m so not afraid, and you don’t have be afraid either” hoping he would get a response

Sabrina: “hey buddy, what are u doing outside this late” she most have heard his voice from her room and had come to find out what was happening

Adrian: “I though I just saw someone outdoor. Just wanted to know what they where doing”

Sabrina: “its late night, no one would risk going out, either should you... Okay!”

Adrian: “sure mom”

The next day was a week to Halloween
Sabrina went up to the attic that morning and realized that the attic was a decent sized room large enough to have a fully functional Office space but at the top of an old dusty table she found a couple of books a teacup with a dusty lid and 3 dry slice of bread someone had taken a bite of it, she open the teacup and to her surprise the tea was steaming hot; “that’s weird” she thought to herself
Sabrina had to call an electrician to fix the no power in the house
Day after day things get weirder; the old grandfather clock would ring at odd intervals, telephone would ring from the basement even when there was no phone at the basement; footsteps could he heard walking around the house past midnight with no explanation to it.
Strange figures would randomly appear in and around the house like a glitch in the matrix

It was the 31st of October the eve of Halloween, Sabrina had travelled back to town for meetings and Ella had gone out with her new friend and would stay at her place for a sleepover
Adrian was left alone at the old mansion
It was 5 minutes to midnight when Adrian woke up to footstep sounds at the attic
He knew he was alone but who could that be
Afraid we went up the attic to find no one; the light glitches and the whole building lost power, it was all dark but the moon was high up in the sky
Behind him a figure walks past the attic door and headed downstairs and into the basement
He follows it, a humanoid shape covered with a long white veil that left a wet footprint on the floor.
The figure stops at the middle of the basement.
“hey”
he said as he taps the figure by the shoulder but the veil drops to the ground then the telephone rang but this time it was at the extreme end of the basement. He picks it up then a voice from the other side whispers
“Let’s play a game”
Then the telephone beeps, he turns around to the sight of five person’s with pail skin dressed in white
It was then the grandfather clock rang and peach black darkness cover the whole house
A night he would never forget.
