XVIII. The Moon


The Moon Image




Fair moon attracts with comely light
Both moth and men to spend their might
Her fleeting charms though not her own
Lead fools astray with looks alone

At dusk or dawn, before well set
wise Earth still blocks Moon's cunning net
a ruse which full enforced succeeded
caught in time may go unheeded
