My Grown Up Christmas List by Kelly Clarkson
Even though I don't believe in Santa, anymore, I know that as people, we can show ourselves to be like Santa by giving, showing jolliness, and most importantly spreading love and cheer. Let's say hypothetically, if Santa were real and I got to make my own grown-up Christmas wish, it would be the exact same things that the song states: "No more lives torn apart, that wars would never start, and time would heal all hearts". That's what we all want, right? For all of these things? But we know that sadly, none of these things would happen because we live in a fallen, broken world. But nonetheless, the song has a beautiful and inspiring message. It makes you feel somewhat hopeful. And the melody just makes you want to cry.
But if I could add to my grown-up Christmas list, it would be for everyone to get along despite any differences. This world is filled with hatred and division. I just wish we could all just come together and look beyond each other's beliefs and appearances.
I chose a version by Kelly Clarkson because she has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. And I've heard a lot of beautiful voices, including my mom's. I'm not sure if Kelly is the one who wrote the song or not. But whoever wrote it did a good job.
Never mind. I looked it up. I think it was Amy Grant that wrote the song.
