This is the true story (mostly) of the first recorded eclipse in history from 585BC.
In the year 585 BC
a solar eclipse made history.
It brought the people back together.
Forgotten was the King's displeasure.

A marriage took place soon thereafter,
between them, there was even laughter;
for you see, the tribes had fought six years.
There had been anger, deceit, and tears.

The Iranians had been deceived,
by the Scythians they once believed;
who had killed their men and then had fled,
to far away Lydia instead.

The King demanded they be released.
When they said no, his anger increased.
They continued fighting all those years,
when suddenly there came a great fear.

Now the skies above grew dark as pitch,
and men hid fearing they'd been bewitched.
When it was over, King called for peace.
The eclipse had brought love to the East.
