How does a poem come to be
it's very hard to say
the poet had a thought
that grew along the way

It passes thru the poet's heart
and fills his very being
it reaches deep inside
and leads the soul to seeing

The words don't come easy
it's very hard to write
the poet is the master
that brings it to light

With love and laughter
the poet helps it grow
with pen and paper
the words just seem to flow

The poet is an artist
with a canvas bare
the masterpiece he creates
is beyond compare.
