Twenty-Six Years
Scrambled inside like eggs with cheese and salsa,
Twenty-six years is a long time, but not long enough.
When your body knows what caused all the trauma,
Twenty-six years is a long time, but not long enough.

Every day that I live is more borrowed time,
Twenty-six years is a long time, but not long enough.
One day I will succumb to that injury,
Twenty-six years is a long time, but not long enough.

For a little more time is all that I ask,
Twenty-six years is a long time, but not long enough.
I just want to finish all that I started,
Twenty-six years is a long time, but not long enough.

That anniversary is fast approaching,
Twenty-six years is a long time, but not long enough.
One more year that I've cheated death's cold blank stare,
Twenty-six years is a long time, but not long enough.
