"True friends stab you in the front." -Bring Me the Horizon
How ironic is it
that when we
were younger,
d i s t a n c e

was what we
foretold
as our
de
    mi
        se?

When really
it was living
-together-
that ‘did
us in.’

Fifteen years
of friendship
gone
at the first sign
of strife.

I never should have
followed you
to that school
of false promises.

You swore you would
‘protect me’—
‘help me fit in.’

I should’ve realized
you were a liar,
the minute you said,

“they’ll love you,
Brittany,
just as I do.”

I took it
as a sweet
platitude.

Now, I know

you meant it
as a warning.
