A poem about grieving
My forgetter
Has forgotten
What I
Can’t remember.

I write on my
Weekly calendar
To remind me of stuff
I need to remember.

Then I forget
To look at it.
And stuff I should have
Done got left undone.

I should write
Some poetry today.
But I sleep in instead,
Till 2:00 O’clock and beyond.

They say that’s
Part of grieving,
Sleeping too much.
Perhaps it is.

But I need to
Get my act together,
And start getting
Things done.

I’ll write that
On my calendar.
Perhaps that will
Remind my forgetter

To get up
And go
Do stuff.
Then I forget.

What day is it?
I ask.
But can’t remember
What I did yesterday.

Days go by,
And weeks go by,
And my calendar
Lies unused on the desk.

I need my
Late wife
Who has gone
To be with Jesus.

She always
Kept me organized.
But she isn’t
Here anymore.

Help me Jesus!
I need to
Get going.
Where is my calendar?
