When people, friends and family become concerned, rarely do they look at their own lives.
Why would I choose loneliness...
Solitude and despair?
Over companionship
Contentment and love.

The damage to my heart, mind and soul.
A woman's fury born from scorn.
Fear of walking down that path again,
So, I face life on my own.

Sadness fuels my disorders,
Depression, anxiety and addiction.
“I've seen a lot worse out there...
They're really my only afflictions”

Whispers quietly deafen me,
And pity masquerades as concern.
“I'm here for you if you need me.”
”Thanks, but I'll be fine.”

To recruit me into their ranks.
The expectation is I'll be next.
And be exactly like they are,
Happy in every way.

Intervention is aimed to cure me.
With the best of intentions, of course.
A perfect example to show me.
But, their perfection is completely flawed.

To appease their call for action,
And a promise to look at my flaws.
A smile and a nod is what give.
Assurance afforded without any cause.
