how nice it could've been, would've been had it been you
How am I missing someone I've never met?
I've felt your presence in my dreams, leaving me to wake in a cold sweat.

Your soul continues to roam the lonely earth,
seeping into the minds of those wise enough to understand it.
You're on my mind often and I can't help but wonder,
more than I'll admit.

I stare out my window,
the moonlight illuminating my thoughts as I think about what could've been.
So many scenarios in my head,
I try not to get all caught up in the thrill of it again.

I set myself up for disappointment when I do,
thinking you send me signs, another thing I misconstrue.

How nice it could've been, would've been had it been you.
