A poem about regret and dementia intertwining together
A sinister serpent slithers about
Coiling around my memories
Slowly suffocating any semblance of self
Who are you?
What am I?
Where did you come from?
The man staring back at me looks like me
But feels so different
It makes my skin crawl
I thought you were dead!
The past is the past

A haggard man in tattered clothes
Stalks me in an alley
He tells me this time will be different
Open the box; accept the gift
Resist!
I don't want to do this
My family doesn't know me anymore
My brain has been misplaced
Time to go to the home
Hey, you lost your dentures
Quit biting me!
Where did my arm go?
