A castle alone upon a rock. First in Poet’s Forum for Monthly Contest.
The Rock

Isolation sits alone,
privy to his thoughts,
proud to be a stone,
a king without a court.

So lofty in his mind,
his dreams are in the cloud,
and far above his kind,
rejects the passing crowd.

Yet time is both a healer,
and teacher of renown,
erosion makes us squealers
to bring the castle down.
