Celebrating with you
The many joys and toys of Christmas are on display
For us in Stories to savor and play
Christmas tree, I found out, is a German tradition,
With socks hanging by the fireplace, what an addition!

The socks as romantic images started when St. Nick
Left gold coins inside the hoses of three maidens with a wink.
Ornaments and mylar plastic tinsel glitter on trees,
Fake snow, lights, and gifts galore, if you please.

Holly draped over the mantel and the staircase,
Each dwelling shimmers in this holiday race.
The thing with the mistletoe is the oddest,
A reverence to love from a Scandinavian Goddess?

And poinsettias, they came from Mexico,
With red leaves over green, they dazzle so!

Christmas shopping started they say,
When Macy’s first window tree went on display.
In New York City, eighteen seventy-four
The profit of toys entered through the store's door.

Myth-spinners weave many a tale and yarn,
Just, let’s not forget how it all began in a barn.
This divine story for us, extracted from sorrows,
Brought hope and love to all, brightened our tomorrows,

I wait for your items that light up the season with glee,
Merry Christmas to all, my pals of pen, paper, and key.
