I can't lose you now that I've found you!

PAUL

It was only a short year ago
That we met,
Not really relatives,
But almost -
Close enough.
You praised and encouraged
My writing;
You accepted what I told you
Without blinking an eye
And your words were always
Of kindness.
You invited me to dinner
To meet you and your wife
And we chatted as if
We had known each other
For years.
You cared enough
To invite me to lunch again
We feasted on food and memories;
Knowing you has been good!
You invited us to your second home
A beautiful chalet in the mountains,
And entertained us well,
Showing us a kind of life
We've never had.
We took pictures and said
Our goodbyes -
Hoping to see you again,
We drove away,
Content with a happy day.
Tonight I had a message
From your daughter-in-law
Asking me to call your wife
At my earliest convenience;
It is late when I receive the message
And I don't know what's wrong,
But I feel something must be -
And hopefully, I'm wrong!
I can't lose you now
That I've found you..
Morning will give me the answer,
Until then, you are in my prayers!
