She cleans all day while life passes by -

The housewife takes her dusting cloth
And goes about her home
Making sure every speck is gone
She's turning every stone.

The vacuum cleaner in high gear -
The carpets must be clean,
The windows washed and curtains
The freshest ever seen!

She bakes and shines the silver
Every dish is sparkling too;
No time to dilly-dally,
There is much work to do!

A perfect home is what she craves
But there's a little sadness there;
For she has not taken the time
To let the wind blow through her hair.

No time to let the sunshine
Fall upon her face -
No time to smell the roses
Life is just one big race.

No time to look up at the moon -
Dreams have passed her by;
It's great to have a "perfect home"
But I have to wonder why.

A little dust is not a shame
If you write "I love you" there -
For that's what makes a house a home
Safe from a world of care!
