My humble approach to a new autumn day.
Autumn Morning

In the darkness of early morning
I sit upon my sleeping bed
And await the coming light
Of a brand new autumn day.

The birds are not awake yet
As they rest on their perches.
Only an aging cricket disturbs the dewy air
With its unending din.

In the distance, a train sounds its horn,
And rides the rails in melodic song.
I strain to hear its fading refrain
As it slowly passes along.

And as the new light of morning
Seeps through my opened window,
I again give thanks to the Lord
That He has favored me.

I ask for guidance and strength
To get me through this autumn morning,
To experience another new day
And make it one well spent.

Autumn is a wonderful time of the year.
