Cosmic consciousness flash.
Cosmic Clerk

Muffled cackle of
co-worker laughter,
clickity- clack
keyboard,
dust mites feast
on dander,
clackity- click
calculate.
Ceiling lights hum
heat system thrums
coffee vapor swirls
spinning
spinning
spinning
World.

I stand before
tinted glass
double glaze
double hung
thermo-pane
Casket.

Rook flies
clumsy slow
in the storm sky.
Black onyx
bead eye
finds me,
framed in
yellow light
in an
oblong box.

Unexpectedly
I’m seized by
a blissful instant.
My insides
sing primal
“I’m ready to go,
so please take me
now.”

The instant passes,
I’m still at work
standing before
tinted glass.
Where did I go
for that instant,
and how do I go back?
