A tribute to those who fell in War. Inspired by Edward Elgar's "Nimrod".
The Cenotaph in London.

Some Mother's Son

Remembrance Day, with poppies red
Placed upon the Tomb,
November's rain to mourn the Dead
In shrouds of mist and gloom.

All our fallen soldiers true,
Are faded into dust,
Pilots brave, and sailors' crew
Lie among the Just.

Elgar's music carries tears
When words do not convey
The futility of youth's lost years,
Blown, like leaves, away.

And every one, some mother's son,
Some sweetheart left to weep,
They bought our freedom with their blood,
We will remembrance keep.
