THE STORM WITHIN

Emotions raging as I reach
For the bottle that will bring
A dullness to my senses
As I hold my wedding ring.

No longer a source of pride
Or symbol of love so true,
I place the ring in my glass
Along with the memories of you.

The wine drowns the ring
As the storm within my soul
Buries all emotions -
Ah, yes, that is my goal!

I lift the glass of wine
In a silent toast to the pain
Letting it all go, so that
The storm will not come again.
